Ouvir — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Ouvir is a live-translation app: it listens to speech around you with your iPhone’s microphone and shows (or speaks) a translation in real time. It is built to know as little about you as possible.
What we collect
As little as the product allows. You sign in with your Apple ID (Sign in with Apple); we store the anonymous account identifier Apple gives us and, so we can enforce your plan’s listening allowance, a per-day count of listening seconds. Subscriptions are handled by Apple; we store only which plan is active and until when. No analytics, no advertising, no trackers, no location, no contacts.
How audio is handled
When you start a listening session, microphone audio is streamed over an encrypted connection to speech-AI providers to be transcribed and translated. Depending on the engine you select, those providers are Google (Gemini), Deepgram, and OpenAI. Audio is processed to produce your transcript and translation and is handled by those providers according to their own policies; ouvir’s own servers do not store your audio or transcripts.
What stays on your device
Recordings and transcripts of your sessions are saved only in the app’s Documents folder on your iPhone. You can review, export, or delete them at any time inside the app or via the Files app. Deleting them removes them permanently — we have no copy.
Microphone permission
Ouvir requests microphone access solely to perform live transcription and translation while you have a session running. It does not listen in the background outside an active session.
Children
Ouvir is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date.
